Spring Harvest Festival vol.1

My family and friends of my kids gathered in my garden plot last sunday and enjoyed harvesting onions, komatunas, spinaches and pak chois. Most of my vegetables except from my potatoes are ready to be harvest and especially my onions have grown well so I have to harvest all of them (95  onions) before they will bolt.

My daughter were struggle to pull out my onions, which were rooted deeper than I thought.

My daughter: "I can't pull it out!!"
Most of my onions are so big in good shape that I and my wife could have confidence in growing next onions.

My wife and daughter were preparing the onions for long term preservation with cutting their leaves.

All of the onions are left under eaves of my house. We will knot 2 or 3 onions with vinyl cords and hang them out.

Looks like a great crop of onions. Now onions are something I never grow, because we use so many of them in cooking that I know if I devoted the whole of my plot to onions I would still have only about a month's supply for the kitchen!

>Mark
I know many dishes in England use many onions.
We will also consume all of our onions in a few months! I will plant more onions next time using 1 more planting bed.

Fantastic harvest! I bet your daughter loves helping in the garden! I hope your friends and family are well. We haven't forgotten what Japan is still going through. Looking at things growing in the garden just brings home how important the small pleasures are and how lucky we are to be able to enjoy them.

Nice onion harvest. Do you eat the leaves too?We harvested a lot of onions in February. But it is already almost gone now. I was kind of surprise that home-grown onion finished quickly in our pantry rather than shop-bought ones.

Wow, those are some fantastic onions! I don't always have the best luck with them. Some years they are big and some years small.
