Harvesting potatoes.

Today I and my wife harvested potatoes in my garden while the weather was good in our place. Digging potatoes in soil is like a treasure hunting and we were excited with searching for big ones.

Although we had to suspend today's harvesting due to scattered rain, about 20 potatoes were dug out and some of them are as big as my fist. Those potatoes were found under only a few potato trees so we can expect more and bigger potatoes can be harvested this weekend from the rest of 15 potato trees. I can imagine my kids will be also excited digging them out!

Digging for potatoes is like a treasure hunt! That is one gardening chore that I loved to do when I was a child. There is nothing better then fresh home grown potatoes...enjoy!!

Do you managed to find all? I usually think I have found all of them but somehow I still have volunteer potatoes later.

Yeah! Thrilling and exciting, Robin! I believe we have to search soil beds for potatoes and that's why we think digging for potatoes is like treasure hunting!

Searching for all potatoes is difficult as you say and we might not find some of them leaving them in soil.

We baked the potatoes and enjoyed them dipping butter and say-sauce. That's a simple but the best way to enjoy fresh potatoes, I believe.

A kind of my potato is "Danshaku(男爵)/Baron". That is a very popular potato in Japan.
