Today's temperature outside is 12C high but the air inside was 16C as the thermometer shows. It's cloudy through today so the air inside could be warmer if it is sunny.
In winter in Japan the air is usually dry and cold but the inside the tunnels are always moist, which can give a good effect to my vegetable's growth.
I opened a vinyl sheets up for putting some fertilizer on the soil and many spinach sprouts have grown in the past few days.
I found not only the growth of spinaches but that of komatunas.

The tunnels are terrific! But what are komatunas?

Thank you for visiting my blog. Komatsuna or komatuna is a kind of brassicas and called "Japanese mustard spinach". It's easy to grow and it contains a lot calcium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komatsuna.
Zenbu ping ping shitteimasu. If the weather there is getting warmer they will grow very quickly and soon heading towards your kitchen.
Lovely start to your spinach!
The vinyl tunnels have certainly been worthwhile, haven't they? I ordered some commercially-produced plastic cloches a couple of weeks ago, and I am waiting impatiently for them to arrive. Today the Postman tried to deliver them while I was out. Grrrr!

Yes! We are looking forward to harvesting them in a month!
I'll cook boiled spinaches in "Ohitashi way"!

Now I have confidence in the effect of the tunnels.
They are very effective to keep the air inside warm and moist besides avoiding frost. I'll use it in the next winter.
I believe you must be excited while waiting for your new tool! I'm very curious about it and I hope you introduce it on your blog.
The tunnels seemed to be very effective Takaeko and a must-have during winter months! Happy gardening!
