paddy field filled with water

In Nara, an ancient capital city and my wife's home town, there are many rice paddy fields as well as old temples.
I love to watch green rice plants swung by wind. We are gonna harvest them in nearly the middle of October.

I have been to Nara and like the place! Are they any medaka swimming in the paddy fields now?

I haven't seen medaka for long time even in rural erea like suburb of Nara. I've heard many creatures, which had been seen around us like Medaka, is now endangered due to the deteriorating environment.

Although the environment is not good for them, Flogs,tadpole-shrimps(かぶとえび),dragon-flies,crayfish are seen in paddy fields.

I went on holiday in India and spent 2 weeks gazing at the luscious paddy field. Far cry from here.
