I've set up an insect screen on the ridge where Chinese cabbages were planted for protection against bugs like young-worms of moth and birds which could feed leaves.
I've learned a lot from the last bug's attack which made my sweet-corns dead and I decided to carry out some radical measures.
Our "F.P.K (Finding,Picking up,and Killing) method" is well organic but some of them are time-consuming, not efficient.
The screen which I bought at a home-depo for about $15 is easily set up and can ward off bugs and birds without any chemical pesticide.
Raising autumn-winter vegetables like lettuce, cabbage, white radish requires protection against bugs and I hope the screen can be a big help.

Hello,
Two days ago I did the same thing, my salad was eating by the insect, so I had to protect my garden, the same way as you.
Have a great day.

I saw your net on your blog. It's must be hard job to set up 25meter-net!
How about planting lots of garlic or onions around your brassicas? I find that when I grow different types of plants in the same patch this year I have less attack from pests than last year.

I believe your idea, which is called "Companion Planting", would work out in my garden.
Garlics and onions are effective in warding off bugs and in my case red chili trees have been moved beside my sweet corns today. I hope it would work out...
